This Privacy Policy explains how TennisLadder ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the TennisLadder mobile application and related services (the "Service").
By using TennisLadder, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who we are

2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
Account information
- Email address (required for sign-in)
- First and last name
- Phone number (optional, hidden by default)
Profile information
- Greater area / zip code (used for matching with nearby players)
- NTRP skill level
- Selected format (Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles)
- Team memberships (for doubles)
Match data
- Challenges sent and received
- Match scores and outcomes
- Statistics, rankings, and match history
Technical data
- Device information (model, OS version)
- Push notification tokens
- IP address (collected through server logs)
- Crash reports and diagnostic data (via Sentry)
We do NOT collect:
- Precise GPS location
- Contacts or address book
- Camera, microphone, or photo library (unless you explicitly attach a photo)
- Payment information (the app is currently free)
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Match you with nearby players in your division
- Display rankings and match history
- Enable chat between matched opponents
- Send notifications about your matches, challenges, and rankings
- Improve the app (via crash reports and anonymized usage data)
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Sharing with third parties
We share necessary information with the following service providers, strictly for the purpose of operating TennisLadder:

5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — Ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — Request that we delete your account and personal data.
- Portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-out of communications — Disable notifications at any time in the app's Settings.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@tennisladder.app. We will respond within 30 days. For California residents, additional rights under the CCPA apply.
6. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time:
- Open the app
- Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion
Once deleted, your personal data is removed from our active systems within 30 days. Some anonymized data may be retained for historical and analytical purposes.
You can also email contact@tennisladder.app to request deletion.
7. Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we retain data only as required by law or for legitimate business needs — typically no more than 90 days.
8. Age requirement
TennisLadder is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If we become aware that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at contact@tennisladder.app if you believe a minor has created an account.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted database storage, and strict access controls. However, no system is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International users
TennisLadder is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Effective date" above and, for significant changes, notify users through the app or via email.
